The Cold Lodge
Arena Modifier 🐺
Hunger
The longer the Wendigos go without scoring, the higher their offensive stats climb.
Lore
The Cold Lodge sits on the edge of Winnipeg where the city gives way to prairie. When The Almighty Ice appeared, the temperature inside the Lodge dropped to a level that should be uninhabitable, but the crowd stays warm—or claims to. Visiting teams report a persistent unease, a feeling of being watched from the upper corners of the building where the shadows are deepest. The Hunger modifier is poorly understood. Le Council's analysts note that the Wendigos' offensive output increases in direct proportion to their drought, but cannot explain the mechanism. One analyst described it as 'the building getting impatient.' She was reassigned.
The Building
Low-slung and heavy, built from dark timber and raw concrete. The exterior resembles a longhouse stretched to arena scale—a peaked roof with no windows along the sides, only narrow slits near the top that let in thin lines of prairie light. The entrance is a single wide corridor, dim and cold, that feels longer than it should. Inside, the seating bowl is intimate and steep. The ceiling is unusually low for an arena, pressing the sound down onto The Almighty Ice. Every hit echoes. Every whisper carries. The Almighty Ice surface is the coldest in the league—equipment managers report that sticks become brittle faster here. The visiting team's bench is positioned directly beneath the darkest section of the upper gallery.
