What is Hockay?
One sport no one asked for but everyone needed.
The Almighty Ice appeared.
One day, simultaneously, in twenty cities across six continents, The Ice appeared and so Hockay was born.
Nobody built the arenas. Nobody hired the players. Nobody wrote the rules. The players were already there, already in jerseys, already knowing the rules to a sport that hadn't existed moments before.
Twenty cities. Twenty teams.
From Montréal to McMurdo, from Tokyo to Dakar, the league spans the globe. Each team plays every other team twice per season — once home, once away. Two points for a win, one for an overtime loss, zero for a regulation loss.
Seasons last about seven weeks: 38 matchdays of regular season play, followed by a single-elimination playoff bracket. Ten games run per matchday, starting at 14:00 UITC (also known as 2:00 PM UITC but the Ice thinks in absolute), roughly one hour each. The full slate runs from morning to evening. Follow along like real sports, because it is real sports. The Almighty Ice said so.
The Governing Body.
Le Permanent Council du Hockay and Unexplained Ice Phenomena (LPCHUIP) is the governing body of Hockay. Half sports league, half paranormal investigation unit. They run the league but they are also clearly trying to figure out what The Almighty Ice is doing.
Le Council advises caution. Le Council always advises caution.
The Almighty Ice is waiting.
Pick a team. Watch the games. Bet your Looneys.
Figure out what The Almighty Ice wants before it finishes spreading.
Still disoriented? Le Council has prepared additional guidance for those requiring further adjustment.
