The Sandy Parlor
Arena Modifier 🧞
Wishes
One random event per game has its outcome reversed. A miss becomes a goal. A save becomes a miss. Be careful what you wish for.
Lore
The Sandy Parlor appeared in the sand dunes north of Dakar. The building sits half-buried, as if it had been there for centuries and the desert had slowly consumed it. Sand drifts into the concourse through doorways that won't seal. The Wishes modifier is the most feared in the league. Once per game, a random event has its outcome reversed. A shot that missed scores. A save that held gives way. The reversed event is not announced until after it happens—the feed updates retroactively, and the community scrambles. Le Council has attempted to identify a pattern in which events are reversed and has found none. The Djinns' fans maintain that you can influence the Wish by wanting it badly enough. Le Council has no comment on this.
The Building
Sandstone and copper, rising from the dunes like a half-excavated ruin. The exterior walls are thick sandstone blocks, weathered smooth, with narrow windows set deep into the walls. Copper domes cap the four corners of the structure, green with patina. The entrance is a descending ramp—you walk down into The Sandy Parlor, as if entering a buried temple. Inside, the ceiling is domed and tiled in intricate geometric patterns of blue, gold, and white. The seating is arranged in a horseshoe around the rink, with the open end facing a wall of glass that looks out onto the dunes. Sand collects in the corners of the concourse and crunches underfoot. The Almighty Ice surface seems impossible here—a sheet of frozen water in the Sahel—and the contrast between the warm sandstone walls and the cold blue-white of the rink is the defining visual. Lanterns hang from the ceiling on long chains, swaying gently in air currents that shouldn't exist in a sealed building. The Sandy Parlor is quiet. Wishes are made in silence.
